The Buddelia R Blooming sisters taught me how to communicate in the orchid flora-tongue language. You don't really "speak" in flora tongue, but use a lot of body motions and gestures. No adjectives in flora tongue..strictly the use of verbs and nouns. Adjectives, if any are indicated by facing hands (leaves) toward the sun, dipping the head toward the east, or twisting to face westward. Human voice is painfully loud to the orchids...they prefer that if we want to communicate, we should listen and let them do most of the talking. This method is quite okay for me...flora tongue is complicated to say the least.
In the beginning, I took on a sickly orchid...and then another orchid...and another. I have discovered that orchids have personalities. I have learned to speak in "orchid tongue" language. I now own an Orchid Boarding Center for wayward orchids. Follow along as I recount semi-believable stories about life in my orchid center....some people call me the "orchid whisperer."
