Orchids are night owls. They really only take quick naps during their bloom time, because they get LOTS of sleep out of bloom. Hence, commotion and shenanigans at night when the night crew is limited... and the new residents, officially known as the Flora Birds, raised havoc last night. The local farmers' market donates fruits and veggies to the Center after their market closes every Saturday. All the donated goods had been cleaned and put in the refrigerator except for a handful of sweet yellow banana peppers in a strainer awaiting to be chopped. The sink had not been drained and was full of water. The competitive Flora Birds, discovering that peppers float in water jumped in the "pool" (sink) and proceeded to have a fast paced game of improvised water polo...passing the banana peppers back and forth to one another aiming for the kitchen strainer. They even got the Freckles girls to get involved and playing together!!!! I'm sure they had fun, good for the girls to cut loose once in awhile, but rules are rules. They may have had fun, but left a disaster in the kitchen again, and they woke up the Center Director. Lights out early tonight for the Flora Birds and The Freckles girls.
